A beach in Cornwall with an ice cream van on it

Last week, Sabrina had the pleasure of hosting her friends from Scotland, and what better way to showcase the beauty of her local area than a sun-soaked tour of Devon and Cornwall’s coastal gems?

First Stop: Trebarwith Strand

With its dramatic cliffs, golden sands, and rolling surf, Trebarwith Strand was the perfect opening act. The group wandered along the beach, toes in the water, laughter echoing against the rocks. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and breathe a little deeper.

Next Up: Port Isaac (aka Port Wenn)

Fans of Doc Martin would instantly recognise the charming fishing village of Port Isaac. Nestled into the rugged coastline, it’s a postcard-perfect spot where narrow lanes wind between whitewashed cottages. The group explored the harbour, snapped photos by the iconic surgery, and soaked up the quaint atmosphere that makes this village so beloved.

Final Treat: Instow Beach & Sunset Magic

No beach day is complete without ice cream, and Instow Beach delivered. As the sun dipped low over the estuary, casting golden light across the sand, the group sat together—cones in hand—watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange. It was a moment of quiet joy, the kind that lingers long after the day ends.

A Day of Simple Pleasures

Sometimes, the best memories are made from the simplest days. A few good friends, a stretch of coastline, and the freedom to explore. For Sabrina and her Scottish visitors, Devon and Cornwall offered more than just scenic views—it gave them a shared story, one that will be retold with smiles for years to come.

We often think of travel as something that takes us far from home—new cities, distant beaches, unfamiliar cultures. But what if the next great adventure is just around the corner?

Why not explore your local area with fresh eyes? Book a few nights at a nearby hotel, switch off from routine, and become a tourist in your own town. You’ll be surprised by what you discover: hidden gems, local history, scenic walks, and experiences you’ve passed by a hundred times without noticing.
