Koh Lipe is one of those rare places that manages to feel both wonderfully simple and utterly unforgettable. If you’ve never been to Thailand—or never stepped foot on a Thai island—this tiny gem in the Andaman Sea is the perfect introduction. It’s beautiful, a bit chaotic in the most charming way, and full of those small, vivid moments that stay with you long after you’ve left.
Arriving in Koh Lipe: An Adventure Before the Adventure
The journey in is part of the magic. If you’re coming from Langkawi, the experience is almost theatrical. You step off the ferry onto a waiting longtail boat, skimming across turquoise water toward a floating pontoon anchored just off the beach. From there, you walk barefoot across the sand to a row of plastic chairs facing the sea—your waiting room for immigration.
One by one, names are called. You collect your passport, meet the immigration officials, and then follow your hotel porter—bags in tow—down the beach to your accommodation. It’s quirky, slightly chaotic, and absolutely unforgettable. It sets the tone for the island perfectly.
First Impressions: White Sand, Warm Water, Pure Bliss

Koh Lipe is tiny, walkable, and impossibly beautiful. The beaches are powdery white, the sea is warm and crystal clear, and the pace of life slows down the moment you step onto the sand. Slip on a snorkel and mask and you’re instantly surrounded by tropical fish dancing around the coral.
There are no cars on the island, which adds to the charm. You can explore everywhere on foot, or hop on a bike-style tuk-tuk if you fancy giving your legs a rest.
The Beaches: Three Shores, Three Personalities
Koh Lipe may be small, but its beaches each have their own character:
Pattaya Beach — The main arrival point and a lively stretch of sand with plenty of places to eat, drink, and people-watch.
Sunrise Beach — Wake early, and you’ll be rewarded with a sunrise that feels almost otherworldly. During the day, the colours of the sea here are mesmerising—perfect for a lazy day of swimming and relaxing.
Sunset Beach — As the name promises, this is the place to watch the sun melt into the horizon. It’s quieter, more peaceful, and ideal for ending the day with a cold drink in hand.
A Sunset Cruise to Remember

One of the highlights of the trip was a catamaran sunset cruise that circled the entire island. Sailing across calm water, watching the sky shift from gold to pink to deep orange, is something truly special. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after you’re home.
Walking Street: The Beating Heart of the Island

When night falls, Walking Street comes alive. It’s vibrant, colourful, and full of energy—lined with restaurants, bars, shops, and people from all over the world. Whether you’re after fresh seafood, a Thai massage, or just a wander with an ice cream in hand, this is the place to be.
Final Thoughts: A Place You’ll Want to Return To
Koh Lipe is one of those rare destinations that feels both intimate and adventurous. It’s easy to fall in love with the beaches, the warmth of the water, the laid-back atmosphere, and the sense that you’ve found somewhere a little bit special.
It’s also a perfect jumping-off point for exploring other Thai islands across the Andaman Sea and the west coast of Thailand. But honestly? You may find it hard to leave.

Our 3rd grade class did a Christmas party and I pulled 25 Christmas bingo boards on Friday afternoon during prep.
Kids loved that the icons were actually varied instead of the same snowman repeated on every card like that other free site does.
