A Sunny Weekend Escape to Dawlish

Woman and child sit on a patterned blanket at a pebble beach, facing the sea. A green bucket is beside them. Mood is calm and relaxed.

I’ve just got back from a lovely sunny weekend in Dawlish, and it was exactly the relaxing break we needed. Sometimes a short getaway can feel like a proper reset — and this one

certainly did!

A Nostalgic Stop at Crealy Park 🎢

On the journey down, we made a stop at Crealy Park — somewhere I hadn’t visited since I was a child. It felt so special to return and relive some old memories. This time, though, I got to experience it through my little boy’s eyes, which made it even more magical. He had so much fun enjoying the rides and exploring the woodlands and rope bridges. Watching his excitement brought back so many happy childhood memories of my own.

Our Lodge in Dawlish Warren 🏡

We stayed in a lovely lodge in Dawlish Warren, and the location couldn’t have been better — just a short walk to the beach! Having the sea so close made everything feel instantly relaxing, and it was the perfect base for our weekend adventures.

Exploring Dawlish Warren 🚂🦢

While we were away, we spent time exploring the town of Dawlish Warren. We watched the trains pass by along the famous seafront and, of course, visited the well-known black swans — and there were even babies! They were so lovely to see and made the visit feel extra special. We found a sunny spot by the stream and enjoyed our lunch outdoors — simple moments like this always turn out to be some of the best memories.

A Trip to Babbacombe 🚡

Later, we headed to Babbacombe and took a ride on the Cliff Railway. It was such a fun experience and a great way to reach the secluded cove below. We spent some time relaxing on the beach, playing and enjoying the fresh sea air before heading back up the cliff.

Sunday by the Sea 🍦

Sunday was all about soaking up the last of the seaside vibes. We visited the beach, treated ourselves to an ice cream, and finished the weekend with a delicious carvery — the perfect way to round things off.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend — something we truly needed. A mix of sunshine, seaside views, childhood memories, and family fun made it a little getaway to remember.
